Newsletter - November 2014

Greetings all,

artbeat 2014 01Our ARTbeat Exhibition has been amazing! The Gallery looks stunning, and the placement of exhibits shows each and every one to maximum advantage.

The Curators, Jeanne-Marie Cantereau, Jim (Skotty) Neilson, and Paul Heffernan, aided by Peter Feran (Secretary), who climbed high ladders, hammered things when required, and generally was terribly useful, are to be congratulated.

The comments and emails we have had congratulating us, and the donations received, have made the hard work and worry all worthwhile.

The standard of work on offer is exciting, and I can't help but feel how lucky we are to have so many talented people to call on to exhibit. We try to include new and different artists each year, and mix with some we know well, and enjoy.

We are delighted that Scott Simpson has accepted our request to become our Patron. He has always been very supportive of Thames Society of Arts events, and we warmly welcome him and thank him for taking on this position.

We thank our Mayoress, Mrs Trudi Leach, for coming along, speaking to us, and declaring the Festival of The Arts now officially under way.

Thames ARTbeat Exhibition closes at 4pm on Sunday 7th December - so don’t delay your visit.

Wednesday Painting Group: Please note, for the next 2 Wednesdays, you will be painting in the Music and Drama room, which they have kindly allowed us to use.

The Fair: 7th December in the field, opening 10am. This is going to be a real fun occasion, music, food, stalls full of treasures, art, and ideas for X'mas gifts. Kathryn and Helen have an X'mas Hamper raffle organised, and ask our members to contribute something towards this, to be left at the gallery. Please see what you can find in your pantry/local supermarket to help out. It will be much appreciated, thank you.

Our Summer Exhibition opens on 10th December. Members, please bring your work for this into the Gallery on 8th December. This summer period is the most lucrative sales wise, so take advantage of it, and let's have another great show of our work. Opening Night 5.30pm Wednesday 10th December. Nibbles and refreshments will be served.

Roll on Summer - happy creating!
