Jim hails from Scotland, the land of tartan and heather, so its not surprising that he is passionate about colour.
His first brush with art was when he took a year’s extension course with the Paris School of Art, followed by visits to Venice and Amsterdam.
However, it was not until he emigrated to New Zealand that his passion for art was re-ignited.
During a term at Art Buzz in Tauranga he met plein air artist John Crump and was so impressed, he attended one of John’s workshops in Wellington and followed that up with visits to Glenorchy.
Ten years later and still eager to paint, Jim retired to Thames and now enjoys the light and beauty of the Coromandel Peninsula.
